Sabesp accelerates its hyperautomation journey with Smarthis, combining data and AI to transform its processes
Last week, Sabesp held its Hyperautomation Day, an event designed to present a strategic vision for the company’s digital transformation, with a focus on intelligent automation, data, and AI. The event included Smarthis, which led a discovery workshop alongside Sabesp’s CoE (Center of Excellence), bringing together leaders from the Procurement and Corporate Services division to explore automation opportunities, discuss digital maturity, and co-create high-impact solutions for the company.
Hyperautomation as a Pillar
During the opening session, Sabesp executives highlighted how hyperautomation has become a strategic pillar for the company. The vision presented reinforced technology’s role as a driver to:
- Generate operational efficiency by reducing costs and errors;
- Increase agility in data-driven decision-making.
“We want data and artificial intelligence to serve as guiding pillars for our decisions, from the operational level to the strategic level,” said Eric Leite, Head of AI Data & Analytics at Sabesp.
From Automation to Hyperautomation
Sabesp’s CoE team presented the differences between traditional RPA and the broader concept of hyperautomation, which combines multiple technologies, such as machine learning, cloud, and generative AI, across end-to-end processes.
The maturity stages guiding Sabesp’s evolution were also discussed, reinforcing that transformation requires integration between business and technology and cannot be built in isolation.
Cases and Results Already Achieved
During the workshop, Sabesp presented internal cases that already demonstrate the impact of automation:
- 12,000 hours automated across financial processes, freeing teams to focus on higher-value activities;
- A bot for personnel administration, which reduced the execution time for benefits-related tasks from four days to just nine minutes, increasing productivity and reducing errors;
- More than 10 bots in production, across areas such as finance, personnel administration, and mobility.
These results show that the potential for gains is “immeasurable,” as the executives highlighted.
Discovery Workshop
Following the presentations, participants took part in a practical exercise to identify processes that could be candidates for automation. The goal was to encourage each area to reflect on its “repetitive and manual” tasks, as well as other challenges that can be transformed through technology.
This co-creation session reinforced the importance of active participation from business areas in building Sabesp’s hyperautomation journey.
Conclusion: A Shared Journey
Hyperautomation Day marked the beginning of a new stage in the partnership between Sabesp and Smarthis. Beyond discussing technology, the event reinforced the view that hyperautomation is a driver of organizational transformation, capable of combining efficiency, innovation, and direct customer impact.
With concrete use cases, engaged teams, and a clear strategy, Sabesp is positioned to move quickly in its digital journey, with Smarthis as a trusted partner throughout the process.
